The Biggest Gifts You Can Give Yourself
Lately, I’ve been experiencing frustration over the fact that, despite trying a LOT of things, I have ongoing discomfort/tightness in my body. At different points, it gets better, then it gets worse again. My story is “I’m doing something wrong”.. then I feel even worse.
When there’s something we are trying to shift and yet it isn’t…whether it’s with our health, finances, relationships or whatever, it’s easy to slip into frustration, hopelessness, and worst of all, self blame.
When we find ourselves in this state, there are some incredible gifts we can give ourselves to help shift us out of that bad-feeling place:
Self Compassion. We think that by mentally beating ourselves up we are motivating ourselves to change. But research shows it’s actually the opposite. When we speak kindly to ourselves, we are more motivated to change.

2. Hold onto the possibility of change. Change is ALWAYS possible. I just heard a story that when William James was suicidal, he turned that completely around by simply saying to himself “change is possible”.
3. Hire a coach who believes in you more than you believe in yourself. Here is my shameless plug for coaching! This is what a good coach does – believes in your ability to change 100%, even when you don’t believe it yourself. This is why I continuously work with my own coaches (I currently have two).
As long as we are alive, there is going to be something we want to shift. Rather than working against ourselves, we can work with ourselves… and find someone who can show us the way.
